Researching your users, their day to day workflows, and the problems slowing them down is an essential part of the Product Management process. But in-person User Research has been challenged due to the pandemic, tighter tech budgets, and shorter project timelines. There are challenges to overcome to transition from in person to virtual research. And where does AI fit gathering insights? This session explores which research methodologies still work virtually, provides tips on effectively gaining the needed insights, and showing where AI assists when in-person research is not viable.

Mark Micheli is the Founder and Chief Strategist of Say Do, an experience innovation and design strategy firm, where he brings a human-centered problem-solving and storytelling approach to his work with Fortune 500 companies, leveraging his diverse background in investigative journalism, digital marketing, computer science, and design research. Before founding Say Do, Mark co-led Accenture’s Human Insights & Design Research practice for North America, collaborating with c-suite leaders to shape strategies for organizations like Google, Samsung, Warner Bros, and The LEGO Group. He is also a faculty member at the Institute of Design in Chicago and Hope College in Michigan. Additionally, he’s a board advisor at WEVO, a principal design strategist at UIC's Institute for Healthcare Delivery Design, and a commissioner on the Human Relations Commission for the City of Holland.
